West End completed the 2015 season with a 6-4 record. Last year West End just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 2A region seven with a 2-4 region record. The Patriots improved in 2015 with their first winning season since 2007. The Patriots won as many games as in any season since 2007. The Patriots have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2010 season and would love to end that streak this year. The Patriots last playoff victory came during the 2001 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Since 2010, the West End football program has struggled with a record of 16-45. Over the past 25 seasons, West End has managed to compile a record of 143-127. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 2A and 151st in the AHSAA. The Patriots are led by head coach Kyle Davis who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 8-12 over the past two seasons at West End. The Patriots have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Davis. Coach Davis' overall record as a head football coach in nine season stands at 35-56 (38.5%). Over the course of his career, Coach Davis' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times . The West End Patriots will play in Class 2A region seven during the 2016 season. The Patriots have one of the toughest schedules in Class 2A. Their opponents had a combined record of 62-49 last season. That ranks 6th in Class 2A and 85th in the AHSAA. Region seven will be one of the most competitive regions in any classification this season. It will be an uphill battle for the Patriots if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region seven this season. Unfortunately, West End finds themselves in a very competitive region with other playoff quality teams. They may need to pull off an upset or two to have any shot at the postseason. The Patriots open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Glencoe on Friday, August 19 at Yellow Jacket Stadium. Last year the Glencoe Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 9-2 and in second place in Class 3A region six. The Yellow Jackets lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to Colbert County by a score of 20-7. West End and Glencoe have met a total of 28 times on the football field. The Patriots have a 11-16-1 record against the Yellow Jackets. They last met in 2009 with Glencoe winning by a score of 28-6. West End returns 2A All-State Senior receiver Andre Little.
